Never touched a torch but want to learn how to make handcrafted jewelry? Or maybe you’ve dabbled before and want a structured refresher? This class is the perfect place to start.
In this private 3-hour session, you’ll learn the essentials of soldering and jewelry fabrication, including:
Torch soldering basics — how to safely and successfully solder wire and sheet metal
Forming techniques — shaping and manipulating metal into standard jewelry forms
Polishing & finishing — adding the final touches to make your work shine
We’ll move at your pace, focusing on your interests or following my standard curriculum. By the end of class, you can expect to:
Confidently create a ring from start to finish
Add a custom design element to your ring
Explore pendant and earring fabrication (depending on your preference and progress)
Materials:
Copper and brass are included.
Optional silver kit available for purchase (covers all silver used during class). Pre-pay here or decide at the studio
Additional details:
Add a second person for +$100 (maximum 2 students; our studio is cozy!).
This workshop covers basic metalworking only—a strong foundation if you’d like to continue into stone setting, which will be offered in a separate class.
