In this class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of setting small faceted gemstones directly into metal—no soldering required. We’ll cover both flush setting (where stones sit level with the surface) and bead/star setting (where tiny prongs or decorative stars secure each gem).
What you’ll learn:
The essential tools and burs needed for successful stone setting
How to properly measure and prepare your metal for clean, professional results
Techniques for securely setting small gemstones so they stay in place
How to test your settings and troubleshoot common mistakes
Experience level:
No soldering experience necessary
Some experience with a flex shaft, Dremel, or similar rotary tool is required
Materials:
Practice brass and cubic zirconia stones are provided for use during class. Feel free to bring your own pieces to practice on if time allows.
